Reading #7- Presenting
The second reading was one about presenting. The website gave links to a variety of articles that gave essential tips and strategies to improve presenting skills. These strategies ranged from what to include on your PowerPoint to what speed to talk while you are presenting.
After reading over some of the articles on tips for a good presentation I came across many helpful information that I plan on using in my future. Some tips that I discovered were arriving early to where you plan on presenting so you can test to make sure that all of the media works correctly on that specific devise. You want to be aware if you will be presenting on the same operating system that you created your PowerPoint on to avoid any connection problems. Then knowing who you are presenting for to create the appropriate theme of your overall presentation is also extremely important. The choosing of the font, color, animations, transitions, etc are significant to the audience and how to set the appropriate mood of what you are presenting. Also knowing how you are going to be sharing your end product to ensure that you have enough network space to transfer it, is also important because you don’t want to finish a 100 page PowerPoint and then it not be able to send.
Meanwhile, time management is also very essential when presenting because you want to keep your audience’s attention while also explaining your intentions of the presentation. Then what I think is most the important tip for presenting is speaking clearly to be able to get your point out properly. If you mumble or talk to softly then the presentation is pointless because the audience can’t understand what you are saying.
